Dr. Robertson joined Marianas Eye Institute in January 2002, after the clinic launched an international search to find an eye care provider to join our clinic.

“It was a long process because it was important to us to identify just the right person. Once we found Dr. Robertson, we did everything possible to bring him here. He combines exceptional talent, a warm and gentle personality, and a thoroughness, all of which are appreciated by the people we serve,” said Dr. David Khorram, MD, the director of Marianas Eye Institute.

“We were particularly impressed with his accomplishments. He graduated Magna Cum Laude, and his research contributions to eye care have won national honors. He has surpassed our expectations, and we celebrate his services to the people of the CNMI,” he added.

“I’m very happy to be here on Saipan,” said Dr. Robertson. “It’s a pleasure to work with such talented people, and to live in such a diverse and caring community,” he added.

Some of Dr. Robertson’s major contributions to the CNMI have been the introduction of Corneal Refractive Therapy, which is a non-surgical method of correcting vision, giving people freedom from glasses and daytime contact lenses. He has also been the initiating force behind the addition of some of the cutting-edge diagnostic technologies that Marianas Eye Institute has acquired. He is an outstanding eye care provider for all ages – children, teens, adults and seniors.

Dr. Robertson grew up on his family’s farm in Oklahoma. He obtained his Bachelor of Sciences in Biology from Oklahoma State University in 1982. When he graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1986, he had earned both a Doctorate of Optometry (magna cum laude) and a second Bachelor of Sciences degree (with distinction), this time in Visual Sciences.

While at Pacific University, Dr. Robertson completed a research thesis that won national honors. In addition to his studies and experience in optometry, he has also taught at the secondary school, undergraduate college, and professional optometry school levels.

His clinical experience in optometry includes group practice settings in Portland and Seattle, in addition to 12 years in private practice in Chelan, in central Washington. He is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.

Dr. Robertson was twice elected by his colleagues to offices within the professional association Optometric Physicians of Washington. He currently is a member of the American Optometric Association, from whom he has earned the Optometric Recognition Award.

Dr. Robertson is married and has two children, and one grandson. He enjoys experiencing the beauty of the Marianas with photography, kayaking, and scuba diving. He also loves traveling, backpacking, and spending time with his family. He is a Divemaster, and an accomplished photographer. His photographs have been featured in international publictions and exhibits around Saipan.

Dr. Robertson is among the best in his profession.
