Our Outstanding Staff

Thelma Babauta Tenorio

Thelma started working at Marianas Eye Institute in 2002 as a part-time medical receptionist. Fresh out of high school and no work experience, she quickly proved to be a valuable addition to our Saipan eye clinic.  She eventually moved into ophthalmic assisting, and through our in-house training program was able to pass her national certifying exam as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. Thelma also serves as one of our two office supervisors.

“Patient care is a very rewarding job, and I am very fortunate to work with such wonderful doctors and staff in providing excellent eye care.  I am also grateful to have such supportive family – my partner of 15 years Jason Cruz, and my children Hana Lei (7) and Larry Dean (11) whom have stood beside me through out my career.  I am proud to be part of the Marianas Eye Institute team, and I stand proud of our motto ‘Excellence with Love.'”

Emilly Taitano

Emilly joined the Marianas Eye Institute family in 1998. In 2006 she became the first person in Saipan and the CNMI to receive national credentials as a certified ophthalmic assistant. Emilly's accomplishment, and the role of Marianas Eye Institute in developing local talent was recognized by a Congressional commendation. She prides herself on her customer service. Emilly is married to Joseph Sablan Taitano, with whom she has four beautiful children.

Erlinda Domingo-Muleta

Lin has been with Marianas Eye Institute since 2000. She has received national certifications in three distinct areas: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, National Contact Lens Examiner, and Certified Optician. Highly accomplished in all three areas, Lin also serves as the Saipan eye clinic's surgical coordinator, and off-island referral coordinator. She is married with three children.

Florie Forbes

Florie was born and raised on the beautiful island of Saipan, the middle of seven children. She joined our Saipan eye clinic in 2009. While at Marianas Eye Institute, she gained her US credentials as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. On any given day, you can find Florie checking vision, reviewing retinal photographs with our diabetic patients, or updating our Facebook page.

Alex D. Racoma

Alex has been a member of the Marianas Eye Institute family since 2004. He was initially hired as an electrical technician, and while working at our Saipan eye clinic, gained experience and interest in becoming an optical laboratory technician. In 2010, he successfully completed the examination and requirements set forth by the American Board of Opticianry, and became a Certified Optician. In addition, Alex directs our Optical Lab, and is a master lens crafter.
