Wendielyn Tan Escota, COA – General Manager

Since joining Marianas Eye Institute in 2011 as an Eye Care Technician, Wendielyn Escota,
better known as Wendie, has demonstrated a dedication to patient care and excellence in the
field. In 2015, she became a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, marking a significant milestone in
her professional journey and further enhancing her expertise and contribution to the team.
Balancing full-time work and academic pursuits, Wendie earned a Bachelor of Science in
Business Management in 2021, graduating with honors as a Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Beta
Delta honor societies member.

As an international member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators and a board
member of the Society of Human Resources Management, Wendie brings a wealth of
knowledge and expertise to her role. Her transition from an eye technician to a management
position has provided a unique perspective on the clinic’s operational needs.

Wendie is dedicated to fostering growth and development within the team, ensuring all
members are equipped to provide patients with the highest quality eye care. This commitment
aligns with Marianas Eye Institute’s “Excellence with Love” motto, striving to create a nurturing
and exemplary experience for patients and staff.

Russ Quinn, Past CEO

As former CEO and current Board member of Marianas Eye Institute, Russ Quinn provides ongoing strategic vision and guidance to the leadership of the clinic, ensuring that it's vision and mission to bring the best quality eye care to the people of the CNMI is fulfilled. After over 30 years in Saipan, he supports the leadership from his home in Colorado.

Dr. David Khorram, MD

The co-founder of Marianas Eye Institute, Dr. David Khorram, continues to serve our Saipan eye clinic through advising the leadership team and providing patient care. After more than 20 years serving the peoples of the Mariana Islands, Dr. Khorram currently serves at the Director of Global Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia from his home in Portugal. He spends his time traveling to underserved countries to provide volunteer eye surgery and training.

Mara Khorram, MPH

Mara Blonigen Khorram is the co-founder of Marianas Eye Institute. With a background in Health Administration and a Masters in Public Health, she was the stimulus in the establishment of Marianas Eye Institute. In its early years she served as the clinic administrator and Chief Executive Officer.
